The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) seeks public input on its newly released Draft TransAction Plan and associated Project List.
By 2040, population in Northern Virginia is forecast to increase by 24 percent, and employment by 37 percent. Attention to the regional transportation system is critical in addressing the projected increase in traffic congestion and crowding on transit services. Aimed at significantly improving the regional transportation network, the Draft Transaction Plan identifies more than 350 candidate projects and $44 billion in unmet transportation needs. The candidate projects are multimodal in nature and vary in scope from expanded infrastructure to new capacity across modes.
