The NVTA hosted an Open House and Public Hearing on July 13, 2017, and the local jurisdictions held eight public outreach events for Northern Virginian residents to learn more about the TransAction Plan and its transportation solutions for the region’s corridors. There has been a lot of interest in the region’s long-range transportation plan and it has been great to see residents, elected officials and advocacy group leaders share a common passion for improving transportation in Northern Virginia.

The adoption of the TransAction Plan in October 2017 was followed by a Call for Regional Transportation Projects for the Authority’s inaugural Six Year Program. During this time, Northern Virginia’s jurisdictions and agencies are invited to submit projects to the NVTA for funding consideration. After a public comment period in Spring 2018, the Authority is expected to adopt the FY2018-2023 Six Year Program in June 2018.

Public Outreach

The NVTA held an Open House and Public hearing on July 13, 2017 at NVTA’s office in Fairfax, Va. In addition to these events, several jurisdictions in Northern Virginia hosted Town Halls and public outreach events about the Draft TransAction Plan in Spring/Summer 2017. These events were designed to inform the public about the Draft TransAction Plan and gather the public’s feedback during the public comment period.
